Author Discusses His Book Offering Glimpses into Macedonian History
Windsor, Ontario (PRWEB) June 27, 2012
Growing up in the Macedonia region of Greece, Stan Malian endured many hardships as a young boy. Inspired by the atrocities he witnessed, Malian looked into history to uncover answers for why divisions and war ran so rampant. His book “History and Religion of Macedonia: Gateway to Europe” (published by AuthorHouse, August 2009) offers an insight into his research and his beliefs on his homeland, and he recently opened up about the inspiration that motivated him to write the book..
“History and Religion of Macedonia” depicts a village in the Balkan Peninsula during the emergence of Christianity in 700 A.D. It depicts the people, their traditions and devotion to the Christian faith. Malian describes the location of the village as “…in the pathway to Europe of Macedonia where nomads of tribes and wanderers crossed through the gateway of Europe while causing destruction, subjugation to these timid, God-fearing people.”
Exploring history for research, Malian began to form an understanding of the past which he feels offer important lessons for people today – namely he wants his book to bring people together.
“When Phillip Macedon appeared in the Balkan, he consolidated all the tribes and formed the Macedonia Dynasty; his son, Alexander the Great, conquered the Persian Empire with soldiers from all the Balkans,” explains Malian, hoping to break down the ethnic barriers which he sees today. “There were no Bulgarians, Serbians or Greeks. They were all Macedonians in those days. Now we have all these new countries claiming that they are different from each other.”
Although many books about the history of Macedonia are already available, Malian assures readers that his book is unique. “As a young man I was able to extract information about the book from preserved diaries kept by my kin folks throughout the years,” he explains. “Also I researched historical books which solidified the authenticity of the book. My book explains the fallacies.”
